RCMP seeking family of deceased whose gravestones were found in Lytton

LILLOOET, B.C. — Lillooet RCMP are seeking the family of two deceased persons whose gravestones were found in Lytton nearly one year ago.

In a news release issued Saturday (Aug. 27), RCMP say two gravestones were left next to the driveway at a home in Lytton back in September 2021. Police say the gravestones were not there the previous day.

One gravestones reads, “Florence Waldie, twin daughter of J & N Heard, May 22, 1932 – April 11, 1943”.

The second gravestone reads, “Emma, wife of the late Archibald Heard, Lossiemouth, Scotland, Feb. 1 1854 – Mar. 1 1940”

RCMP say they have used up all investigative approaches to find possible family members of the owners of the gravestones and are now seeking public assistance in reuniting the gravestones with the family.

Anyone with information on possible owners of the gravestones are asked to contact Lillooet RCMP at 250-256-4244.
