Smoky skies bulletin issued for South Thompson

KAMLOOPS — With hazy smoke from nearby wildfires lingering over the Interior today (July 29), Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement.

The smoky skies bulletin for the South Thompson region includes Kamloops, Rayleigh, Monte Creek, Cache Creek, Spences Bridge, and Logan Lake.

Those areas are being impacted or are likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next 24 – 48 hours.

Environment Canada adds that people with pre-existing health conditions, respiratory infections such as COVID-19, older adults, pregnant people and infants, children, and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health impacts from smoke exposure.

The next update is expected tomorrow (July 30).
