Wildfire near Lytton grows to 2,660 hectares, expected to grow by midday
LYTTON, B.C. — The Nohomin Creek wildfire burning near Lytton has grown to 2,660 hectares.
In an update Thursday night (July 28), the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) says temperatures reaching 41 degrees and low humidity and moderate winds caused the fire to reach the top of the ridge upslope of the Fraser River, in the Stein Valley.
Similar hot and dry conditions are expected Friday (July 29), meaning fire activity will likely increase again by mid-day.
Further growth is expected in the high elevation areas where access is reserved by steep, rugged terrain.
