May 27, 1942 – July 8, 2022

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Denise Dorothy Schmidt. She passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022 in Merritt, BC surrounded by loved ones.

Denise will be dearly missed by her husband of 57 years, Bryon, daughter Lorelei (Dave) of Chilliwack BC, son Mike (Stacey) of Vancouver, and grandchildren Connor and Mackenzie. She also leaves behind her sister Dawn (Don), brother-in-law, Bob, and his wife Donna, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Denise was born May 27, 1942 in Ocean Falls, BC. She grew up in many different coastal logging camps before moving to Merritt in 1962 to take a job at Merritt Diamond Sawmill. It was in Merritt that she met Bryon. They married in 1965 and happily raised their two children.

Denise was a long-time employee of Canada Post, working for 31 years in the Merritt office.

She loved golf, quilting, trips to Spokane, and sharing laughs with her friends, the “Queen Bees”. She was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
