WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — While the flood risk is decreasing in much of the B.C. Interior, it has not completely disappeared.
The B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) has issued a flood watch for the Chilcotin region, including the Chilcotin River, Chilko River and their tributaries.
In upgrading to a flood watch, the BCRFC says the rivers initially peaked between July 4 and July 8, but warm weather over the past 24 hours is resulting in more rising levels.
While forecasts indicate more recession in the coming days, the rivers are still susceptible to heavy rainfall events.
