KAMLOOPS — A pair of Kamloops soccer parents netted $1 million via a Maxmillions prize from the June 3 Lotto Max draw.

Michael and Jennifer Strange were watching their kids play soccer before Michael stopped at a mall in between tournament games to check their tickets. Michael says he decided to wait until the tournament was done before sharing the news with their family.

“I thought we only won $10 because I didn’t have my glasses on. I checked it again and realized there were a lot more zeros than $10,” Michael says. “It’s life-changing… we’re speechless. It will upgrade our life and will add financial security in a topsy-turvy world.”

The Stranges plan to put their prize towards a new car and some home renovations. They purchased the ticket from Shoppers Drug Mart on Summit Drive.
