KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: The B.C. River Forecast Centre has now ended the high streamflow advisory for the Nicola River and downgraded the South Thompson system to a high streamflow advisory.

EARLIER: The province says river levels in the Southern Interior and Southeast B.C. are expected to begin dropping over the coming week-to-10-days.

As a result, the B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) has ended high streamflow advisories for many waterways in the region, including throughout the Okanagan and Boundary regions.

As of Friday afternoon (July 8), high streamflow advisories remain in place for the North Thompson River as well as the Thompson River from Kamloops to Spences Bridge.

The South Thompson system including Shuswap Lake remains at a flood watch stage. The Columbia Shuswap Regional District notes the Shuswap Lake level rose about 10 centimetres from Thursday to Friday.

The BCRFC says the weather forecast for the coming 10 days is calling for relatively dry conditions, which is likely to result in decreasing levels for most rivers and waterways in the Southern Interior.
