Motorcyclist killed by stray trailer wheel near Revelstoke
REVELSTOKE, B.C. — A freak accident near Revelstoke Sunday (July 3) killed a motorcyclist from Vancouver Island.
In a news release, Insp. Chad Badry of Kootenay Highway Patrol says the incident happened at about 2:20 p.m. on the Trans Canada Highway about 34 kilometres west of Revelstoke.
A westbound Ford F-350 was towing a single-axle travel trailer at that spot when one of the trailer’s wheels detached, bouncing into the oncoming lane.
The tire narrowly missed one eastbound motorcyclist but struck an eastbound Harley Davidson riding behind.
