Rick Plamondon was fishing on Monte Lake, just managing to get his boat out of the water before the torrent of rain began.

Plamondon told CFJC Today the deluge impacted the hillside scorched by last year’s White Rock Lake wildfire, leading to debris raining down onto the road. He says about 300 metres of roadway is submerged.

Plamondon noted it has become treacherous from vehicles to pass that point.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in place for regions surrounding Kamloops, and a severe thunderstorm warning was put in place for the Shuswap Tuesday afternoon.
