Rainfall runoff has peaked; further rises may come from expected summer heat: province
VICTORIA — The province says the impact of heavy rains in the mid-week has made its way through Interior waterways — and all eyes are now trained on the thermometer.
In a Thursday afternoon (June 23) bulletin, the B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) says moderate to heavy rainfall in some watersheds this week caused rivers to rise Wednesday. But officials say the peak from that rain runoff has now been reached.
As a result, the Illecillewaet River and smaller creeks near Revelstoke have been downgraded to high streamflow advisory stage.
