KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 393 public complaints from midnight Friday (June 3) to 9 a.m. Monday (June 6). Below are some incidents police attended.

Impaired driver strikes building

A Kamloops man was given a driving prohibition and had his vehicle impounded after a Friday night collision on the North Shore.

RCMP say a driver on the 700-block of Tranquille Road lost control of his vehicle, struck a building, then crossed over four lanes of traffic and into a median before stopping in a parking lot. Roadside breath tests showed “fail” readings.

According to police, the man said he would continue to drive if released from custody; he was subsequently detained further until he was able to care for himself.

The man was given violation tickets for not having a driver’s license, having open liquor in a vehicle, and failure to remain at an accident.

Two men arrested after reported fight at Pioneer Park

RCMP say youth were observed roaming the park after reports of a rowdy party Friday, but noise levels were reasonable, and no one was under the influence.

A few hours later shortly before midnight, police say they were called back to the park for a reported fight involving a group of people chasing a male. RCMP say the victim was not located or identified.

However, a male youth and a man in his 20s were arrested for public intoxication.

Anyone who witnessed the reported fight or has information regarding it, are asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP.

Stolen medical scooter retrieved

A man in his 90s was reunited with his medical scooter.

RCMP were called to the 400-block of Lansdowne Street Sunday after the mobility scooter was stolen from outside a store. An officer reviewed video surveillance and located the woman responsible for the scooter’s theft. She took them to where it was stashed.

RCMP say the man was happy to have his scooter back and did not wish to pursue charges.
