Streamflow advisory issued for Cariboo Plateau, Thompson region

QUESNEL, B.C. — This week’s steady warming has led to a high streamflow advisory for much of the Cariboo, dipping into the Southern Interior.
As of late Thursday afternoon, the B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) is warning of elevated streamflow on the Cariboo Plateau and the Thompson region. That includes the Nazko River, West Road River, Baker Creek and other waterways west of Quesnel, as well as the Deadman River, Bonaparte River and Cache Creek west of Kamloops.
The BCRFC says warmer temperatures throughout the week have led to more snowmelt and runoff. That, combined with rainfall expected Friday and Saturday, is leading officials to predict rapid rises in rivers.
