Man reportedly pointing gun at Highway 97 doing conservation work: 100 Mile House RCMP
100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Highway 97 between 100 Mile House and Williams Lake was closed Monday (May 23) evening after a man with a pellet gun caused concern for drivers.
In a news release, 100 Mile House RCMP say they and the Williams Lake detachment responded shortly before 8 p.m. to a report of a man along the east side of Highway 97 holding and pointing a firearm near Lac La Hache Provincial Park. Police say dashcam footage showed what appeared to be a Caucasian man holding a rifle along the highway and pointing it along the edge of the road.
According to RCMP, one witness identified a residence as a possible location, having seen a man target shooting with what looked like a pellet rifle the previous day. The man from the dashcam image was initially arrested after officers found the residence and man matching the description.
RCMP say the property owners and tenants confirmed a pellet gun was used in the last two days on their property to rid the front yard of small rodents. The man was released from custody.
