May 23, 1933 – April 12, 2022
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Walter, on April 12, 2022.
Walter was born on May 23, 1933, in Kamloops, BC. and was raised on the family farm along with his 5 siblings in Darfield, BC. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary, brother Paul, and sister Margaret.
Walter is lovingly remembered by his brother Kenny (Joy), sister, Rosemary (Jim), cousins Bruno (Karen), Pat (Jan) Sellner and many nephews and nieces.
Walter attended UBC in the Spring of 1960 and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He immediately went to work for MacMillan Bloedel at their Vancouver Plywood division. Walter also had the privilege of being part of designing a new plant in Hudson’s Bay, Saskatchewan in the early 1970’s and eventually retired in 1993. After living in Ladner, BC for the majority of his life with Mary, he returned to Kamloops to be closer to family.
Apart from a very successful career, Walter’s hobby was photography.
He bought his first camera in 1948 for $3.50 and was never without it. Whether he was capturing special family moments, a friend’s celebration or the latest antique tractor or old car, Walter left us a legacy that we are forever grateful for.
A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at the Darfield Community Hall on Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m.
Condolences may be sent to the family at Kamloops Funeral Home.
