KAMLOOPS — Residents in Kamloops and Merritt may see smoke in the coming week.
In a social media post, BC Wildfire Service says it’s conducting its annual training in the Coutlee Plateau area south of Merritt and at Stake Lake between Kamloops and Lac Le Jeune.
“As part of this field-focused training, live fire will be used through the next week to create realistic training scenarios,” BC Wildfire Service states.” All use of fire will be supervised by fully trained and certified wildfire personnel at all times.”
As of Monday (May 9) morning, the BC Wildfire Service’s dashboard shows six active wildfires within the Kamloops Fire Centre: all are suspected to be person caused, but all are under control.
