Kamloops Farmers’ Market returns on Saturday

KAMLOOPS – Tomorrow morning (Saturday, April 23), the Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market will make its spring return. Local artisans, crafters, bakers, and more will gather along St. Paul Street and the Stuart Wood schoolyard in downtown Kamloops.

The market was able to operate over the past few years during the COVID-19 pandemic with minor restrictions, but this year they’re fully back to normal. Manager Greg Unger told CFJC he was ecstatic to welcome back the vendors and shoppers tomorrow.

“I guess it’s a little early in the season for most of the agricultural vendors, but later on in the season we are going to be seeing some new fruit vendors, some small scale farming. We have a few new pastry and bread vendors who are pretty excited about their lineups,” said Unger. “We are really excited. It’s going to be our 45th market.”

Other vendors include local dairy producers, gluten and allergy fee vendors and tons of crafters. The market is also going to be more accessible this season, as they received a provincial grant to install a ramp to enter the school grounds.

“We got some funding from the provincial government and managed to purchase an accessibility ramp. For years the connection from the schoolyard to street, there is some steps. It’s always been an issue for people with strollers, or people in wheelchairs or with walkers, it’s always been hard for people to go between the two areas,” added Unger.

The market runs every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. until the end of October. The Wednesday market is scheduled to begin in May in front of the Victoria Street library.
