WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and the City of Williams Lake are planning to conduct a prescribed burn within city limits to reduce wildfire risks in the area.

In a news release Tuesday (April 5) morning, BCWS says the prescribed burn will cover approximately 20 hectares northeast of the Westridge subdivision.

Burning may begin as early as Wednesday (April 6) and will continue periodically until April 30. The exact timing of the burn will be dependent on weather, site and venting conditions. Ignition will proceed only if conditions are suitable and allow for quick smoke dissipation.

Smoke and flames will be visible in the City of Williams Lake.
