Lytton Chinese History Museum receives $50,000 in rebuilding effort
LYTTON B.C. — Members of B.C.’s Chinese community have donated $51,500 to help rebuild a piece of Lytton.
The Lytton Chinese History Museum was completely destroyed, along with most of the village, following the June 30, 2021 wildfire.
The money was raised by Canada Chinese Loving Volunteer Association, using a series of videos posted to social media and appealing to various individuals and cultural organizations, largely based in the Lower Mainland.
“I am awestruck by the generosity of the Chinese-Canadian community,” Lorna Fandrich, founder and curator of the Lytton Chinese History Museum says. “These funds will help in a very real way for us to rebuild an important testament to the Chinese pioneers who helped build British Columbia.”
