Investigation underway after body found in North Thompson River on Tuesday
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating after a person’s body was pulled from the North Thompson River today (Mar. 29).
In a release from BC RCMP, police say just around 12:30 p.m on Tuesday, officers were called to the 4300-block of Westsyde Road for a report of a body floating in the river near that location.
“An officer from the RCMP Dive Team has been deployed to assist in recovering the decedent, whose gender can not yet be determined,” states Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet. “At this point it is too early to determine the nature of the incident, or whether criminality is suspected in the person’s death.”
Shoihet says the BC Coroners Service has been called and is conducting its own, concurrent investigation into the circumstances around the person’s death.
