RCMP investigating assault on Kamloops girl as she awaited the bus

UPDATE (March 20, 9:00 a.m.): Kamloops RCMP say the suspect in the photos has been identified and that they would like to thank the public for helping with the investigation.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — RCMP are investigating a bizarre assault that may have appeared to be a hug.

At about 2:30 p.m. on March 5, a female youth was waiting for a bus on Sixth Avenue. That’s when the man in question allegedly assaulted her, boarded the bus and sat near her. The man left the bus near Tranquille Road and Leigh Road.

“Please take a close look at the image,” said Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn. “If you are the suspect or recognize him, please contact police. It’s important we identify and speak with the person pictured in the footage to help further our investigation.”

Suspect description:

  • 40-year-old man
  • Grey hair, balding
  • Scarred, broken knuckles
  • Wearing a short-sleeved, button-up shirt
