Westsyde senior boys win school’s first B.C. high school basketball championship
KAMLOOPS — Despite coming into the B.C. Boys AA High School Basketball Championships as the No. 4 seed, the Westsyde Whundas knew they could win it all.
They accomplished that on Saturday and made history as the first Westsyde basketball team to come home with a provincial title.
The Whundas only led for a short time, but wound up on the right end of the scoreboard, defeating Victoria’s Lambrick Park Lions 73-71.
Westsyde’s Caleb Ezedebego was named Most Valuable Player, finishing with 24 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Caleb Gremaud scored a team-high 26 points and was named Championship Player of the Game. Gremaud was also a First-Team All-Star.
