KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) is planning a prescribed burn in the Lytton area as early as next week.

The burn will take place just south of the Lytton townsite, adjacent to the Trans Canada Highway, and will reduce combustible material on a five-hectare piece of land.

BCWS says the timing of the burn will depend on weather and venting conditions, but it could begin as early as Monday (Mar. 14).

Flames and smoke from the fire will be able to be seen from Lytton, Lytton First Nation, Kumsheen Rafting Resort, Skuppah First Nation, Siska First Nation, Highway 1 and Highway 12.
