2022 off to strong start for Kamloops construction industry

KAMLOOPS — The commercial building sector drove a strong month for the Kamloops construction industry in February.

Totals published by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show $19.1 million in construction permits issued last month, 82 per cent higher than the same month in 2021.

Nearly half of February’s activity — $9.3 million — came in the commercial and institutional sectors.

The City issued permits for 25 new residential units last month, totalling nearly $9 million in value.

For the year to date, the City has issued nearly $30 million in construction permits, a 57 per cent increase over the same time last year.
