KAMLOOPS — Tourism Kamloops didn’t have to look far to find its new leader.

The organization announced Monday (Mar. 7) that Monica Dickinson will take the reigns as its new CEO as of March 15.

Dickinson has been with Tourism Kamloops since 2007, spending the past six years as Director of Industry Relations and Communication.

She takes over from Bev DeSantis, who retired on January 1 after five years at the helm.

Chair Percy Amaria says the Tourism Kamloops board of directors carried out a national search before settling on Dickinson.

“It is rare you find a candidate who has been invested in your mission since the beginning of their career,” Amaria said in a news release.

Amaria goes on to note 2022 will be a critical year for the local tourism sector as the recovery from pandemic-related restrictions kicks into high gear.

“I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and am honoured to continue my work with the Tourism Kamloops team,” Dicksinson added. “As a passionate champion for this city and our industry, I am ready to put the work in on behalf of our very important tourism community.”
