One dead in crash on Highway 5 north of Kamloops Wednesday
KAMLOOPS — A two-vehicle crash that disrupted traffic on Highway 5 north of Kamloops Wednesday (Feb. 23) was fatal.
Barriere RCMP say a man in his 60s died after his brown four-door Honda Civic sedan collided with a commercial tractor-trailer shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Vinsula Ferry Road.
RCMP say their investigation determined the tractor-trailer was travelling southbound and swerved to avoid the sedan but collided with it before continuing into the westside ditch. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured. The man in his 60s was the driver and lone occupant of the sedan.
Cst. Jeremy Galvin, acting Barriere RCMP detachment commander, says the cause of the collision is under investigation, but road and weather conditions aren’t believed to be contributing factors.
