Construction of new Loon Lake Volunteer Fire Hall to begin in the spring

KAMLOOPS — Construction of the new Loon Lake Volunteer Fire Hall will begin in the spring of 2022, according to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD).
The TNRD says the fire hall will be located approximately halfway along Loon Lake Road, within eight kilometres of the most populous area of the community, after it secured a 30-year Crown Lease of the 2.64-acre property in 2020.
The TNRD awarded the project contract to West Alliance Construction for a maximum price of just under $1.3 million in November 2021. Borrowing for the new fire hall project cannot exceed $653,000, which was approved by the community through referendum. Other funding sources include a donation of $275,000 previously made by Fraserway RV, other public donations, and $150,000 from Electoral Area “E.”
Construction of the new fire hall is expected to be completed later in 2022.
