Kamloops kids encouraged to help name these police puppies

KAMLOOPS — Are you between the ages of four and 14? Are you creative when it comes to dog-naming? Do you have an affinity for police puppers?

Then the RCMP are inviting you to enter a contest to name 13 German shepherd puppies, who will grow up to be trained at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta.

Contest rules:

  • Names must begin with the letter “R”
  • Names must have no more than 9 letters
  • Names must be 1 or 2 syllables
  • Contestants must live in Canada
  • Contestants must be 4 to 14 years old
  • Only 1 entry per child will be eligible
  • Entries must be received by March 17, 2022

Entries are encouraged to show some imagination but must be suitable for a working police dog.

Kamloops youngsters have a winning history with this contest. In 2019, a Rayleigh Elementary student was one of 13 winner after suggesting the name ‘Marlow’.

Winners of this contest will each receive a laminated 8-by-10 photo of the pup who received their name, as well as a plush dog and an RCMP water bottle.
