MLA Tegart asked to sign non-disclosure agreement for Lytton recovery information
LYTTON, B.C. — The community of Lytton still looks as if the June 30th fire occurred yesterday. The rebuild has yet to begin, and the local MLA received an unusual request from government to find out why.
It came to light in the BC Legislature Wednesday afternoon that Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart was asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to receive information about the ongoing recovery effort in Lytton.
Because MLA Tegart is now serving as Assistant Deputy Speaker, Kamloops-area MLA Todd Stone questioned the NDP on the NDA request.
“Wanting a member of this legislature to sign a non-disclosure agreement to find out what the government is planning to do to rebuild the Village of Lytton. My question to the premier is this, can the premier tell this legislature why his government is requiring NDAs from local MLAs who are seeking answers on behalf of their constituents?” asked the Liberal House Leader.
