ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — A novice British Columbia driver faces numerous tickets and nine penalty points after police allege he was travelling in excess of 200 kilometres per hour in his mother’s car.

Police in Abbotsford say in a statement that the 20-year-old man was pulled over at around 3 a.m. Sunday when an unmarked police cruiser was passed on a highway by a speeding vehicle.

When the vehicle was stopped, police say the lone driver was co-operative and was not impaired.

When asked why he was travelling at such a speed, police allege he replied that he wanted to see how fast his mother’s car would go.
