TRU WolfPack basketball teams return from UBC without a win
KAMLOOPS — Both Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack basketball teams are still searching for their first wins of 2022, after both the men and women dropped a pair of games against the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds over the weekend.
The men WolfPack were blown out Friday (Jan. 21) against the West Division leading and undefeated Thunderbirds 72-44, in which TRU shots just over 19 per cent from the field as a team. Saturday’s (Jan. 22) contest was a little bit closer, but still a 78-63 loss. Brendan Sullivan led TRU in scoring on Saturday with 20 points while shooting six-for-14.
The women WolfPack didn’t fare any better. TRU fell to UBC on Friday 80-45 and Saturday 94-54. The WolfPack’s leading scorer in both games came off the bench with 11 points: Megan Rouault on Friday and Anneke Cairnie on Saturday.
The men WolfPack have lost five straight games and fall to 4-8, which is fifth in the West Division. The women have lost six straight and fall to 1-12, seventh in the West.
