Taylor Swift becomes Global Ambassador for Record Store Day

Taylor Swift has taken on the title of Global Ambassador for Record Store Day.

To celebrate, she’s dropping new music. In the past, she released new versions of previously released albums and songs on Record Store Day.

The 15th annual Record Store Day, which celebrates independent record stores, will take place this year on April 23.

Previously, Pearl Jam, Brandi Carlile, and Fred Armisen all served as ambassadors for the United States, but Taylor Swift is the first artist to be named a “global” ambassador.

 

SIDE NOTES

  • Swift stepped up to support record stores during the early part of the pandemic by sending them signed copies of her album, Folklore.
  • Grimey’s New and Pre-loved Music Store in Nashville, received donations directly from Swift to help cover their employees’ healthcare and salaries.
