Rollover near Chase closes Trans-Canada overnight

KAMLOOPS – A rollover 13 kilometres east of Chase closed Highway 1 overnight.

Chase RCMP were called out to the crash scene near the intersection of Little River Road at 10:15 p.m. (Jan. 19).

They found a semi-trailer that had jack-knifed and rolled over. Its diesel fuel tank had ruptured and spilled fuel onto the highway.

Police believe the trouble began when the trailer caught the edge of the road surface. The driver managed to walk away from the crash without any serious injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road was reopened shortly after 5 a.m. following the police investigation and the highway cleanup.
