RCMP investigate armed home invasion attempt at Williams Lake motel

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — RCMP in Williams Lake are looking into reports of an early morning armed home invasion.

At 3:33 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 18), RCMP received several reports that two armed men were trying to get into a room at a motel on Seventh Avenue.

Officers rushed to the scene, but after checking each room in the motel and speaking with its tenants, they determined that the suspects had fled.

Investigators disproved a report that shots were fired prior to their arrival but found evidence leading them to believe a gun was involved.

Staff Sgt. Del Byron of Williams Lake RCMP says investigators have identified potential suspects, though they don’t know their motives. Byron notes both the occupants of the unit and the suspects are well known to the local detachment.
