Kamloops RCMP responded to about 281 calls from midnight Friday (Jan. 7) to 9 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 10). Below are some highlights from those reports.

Man arrested for theft following bear spray incident

A man was allegedly bear sprayed following an altercation with three people at a restaurant on Fortune Drive Friday evening.

RCMP arrested two suspects nearby, then arrested a third after they allegedly stole a backpack from the victim and returned it to the restaurant.

Police say the victim decided not to press charges.

Reports of person in water, no one located

Emergency service responders were called to an area near the Overlander Bridge Friday night after a report of a person falling through the ice.

Officers used thermal imaging to look for a potential victim and searched the shoreline for footprints leading onto the ice, but no evidence of a victim was found.

Break in at Valleyview business

RCMP were called to a business in Valleyview after a report of multiple motion alarms being activated early Saturday morning.

Security informed officers that the last alarm involving the break-and-enter had been activated around 5:30 a.m.

A lock was damaged, but nothing appeared to be taken during the break and enter.
