KAMLOOPS — On the morning of Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), the Kamloops Airport (YKA) is full of eager people waiting for loved ones to come home for the holidays.

Most highways in British Columbia are only open to essential travel after being destructed by extreme flooding in November.

The fastest way to get to Kamloops from the Lower Mainland is by plane.

That’s how Violet’s uncle will be arriving from Vancouver.

“I’m waiting for my Uncle Graham, he should be coming on a plane pretty soon, in 5 minutes I think,” she told CFJC News at YKA.

All Violet and her sister want for Christmas is to have their “funcle” visit from Vancouver.

“I made a poster for him, it has all kinds of Christmas things. I’ve got Cindy Lou-Who down there,” Violet explained, as she pointed to her hand-made poster.

“I’ve got a skating rink with someone skating with Santa Clause, I’ve got pumpkin pie and Rudolph…”

Her mom says Violet and her sister have a lot of fun activities planned for Uncle Graham’s visit.

“We play games, board games with the family, and we’re going sledding, and do hot-dog roasts. Just all the fun activities we used to do when we were kids,” said Stacey Vair.

Violet watched planes land with her eyes all a glow, in hopes that one of them might be Uncle Graham’s.

Finally, he arrives! And he’s just as excited to spend time with his loved ones.

“I work from home most of the time, so you occasionally see your friends and stuff like that but your by yourself quite a bit so coming home for the holidays is nice just to reconnect with the family,” said Uncle Graham Vair.

Violet says her Christmas wish came true and she’s looking forward to the next few days with her uncle.

“He likes to play games, and we like to do fun stuff. And we like to do crazy things sometimes,” Violet said.

He’s in for a busy few days, but living up to his reputation, fun Uncle Graham, came prepared.

“I brought my snow gear so we can actually go tobogganing and do lots of outdoor activities and have a good time together so, yeah, I’m looking forward to it — it should be good,” said Uncle Graham.
