B.C. Curling Championships receive health order exemption

KAMLOOPS – B.C. Curling championships will go ahead after Curl BC was granted a special exemption from provincial health orders.

With the exemption, Curl BC says its U18, U21, Wheelchair, the BC Scotties, and the BC Men’s championships can all move ahead.

Kamloops was scheduled to host the B.C. Mens and Womens Championships from Jan. 4 to Jan. 9. At this point, it’s not clear if the Championships will go ahead with the same dates.

In a letter announcing the decision, Doug Sarti, the Communications and Marketing Manager for Curl BC said, “Stopping and starting a championship is like stopping and starting an aircraft carrier – it takes a lot of people, and it doesn’t happen immediately.” He added “we’re working as swiftly as possible and we will, of course, keep our membership updated on any details.”
