Weather warnings and watches in place for regions around Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Mother nature is packing a winter punch into the final weekend before Christmas. Environment Canada has issued a series of warnings and watches for the regions surrounding Kamloops.

A winter storm warning has been issued for North Thompson. 40 cm of snow could fall over the Trans Canada highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass from Friday night through Sunday. Up to 30 cm of snow is expected to fall east of Clearwater along Highway 5 over the same time period.

The Cariboo region is expected to see up to 30 cm through the Cariboo Mountains and 20 cm through the 100 Mile House and Williams Lake areas.

A winter storm watch is in place in the Merritt area where the threat of heavy snow is combined with the risk of freezing rain Saturday.
