Highway 99 re-opens after overnight closure, Highway 3 closed east of Princeton due to flooding
KAMLOOPS — Highway 99 between Pemberton and Lillooet is now open to essential travel after an overnight closure Tuesday (Nov. 30) due to weather and saturated ground conditions.
The B.C. government says highway infrastructure is vulnerable following recent storm events and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is monitoring the weather and the performance of the highway. Highway 99 and other roads could be closed at any time should conditions change.
The province says weight restrictions are in place on Highway 99 from just north of Pemberton to Lillooet. The route is a steep, mountainous road with narrow sections and sharp curves. High volumes of commercial vehicles cannot be safely accommodated.
Regular passenger vehicles, such as cars, SUVs, vans, and trucks under a gross vehicle weight of 14,500 kilograms are able to travel on this corridor.
