B.C. reports 358 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

KAMLOOPS — The B.C. government is now disclosing which percentage of the province’s population age five and older is vaccinated against COVID-19.

As of Tuesday (Nov. 30), 84.8 per cent (4,225,218) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 81.7 per cent (4,069,988) have received their second. Interior Health will begin pediatric immunizations on Thursday (Dec. 2).

B.C. reported 358 new COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, with 85 of them in Interior Health.

Active cases marginally increased to 2,889 in the province (up by seven since Monday) and 552 in Interior Health (up by 18). Of the provincial active cases, 300 patients are in hospital (down by three), with 104 of them in intensive care (down by 11). The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Elsewhere, 107 new cases were reported in Fraser Health (1,018 active), 57 in Island Health (539), 56 in Northern Health (337), and 53 in Vancouver Coastal Health (443).

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry also confirmed that B.C. has its first case of the Omicron variant, a resident in Fraser Health resident who travelled to Nigeria, making it the fourth province to do so.

No new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, leaving the provincial total at 2,333.

There were no new healthcare facility outbreaks. The outbreak at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in Fraser Health has been declared over, leaving a total of five active outbreaks. No active outbreaks are in Interior Health.
