Brookmere Evacuated

TNRD issues second evacuation order for Brookmere in two weeks

Nov 30, 2021 | 2:34 PM

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District issued an evacuation order for the community of Brookmere Tuesday (Nov. 30) afternoon.

B.C. government staff noticed significant log jam approximately two kilometres upstream is the reason. Due to upcoming heavy rainfall and the potential for increased water levels, the TNRD states it has concern that the log jam could be dislodged and carried downstream to cause damage in the community.

Because of the potential danger to life and safety, the evacuation order affects the following 50 addressed properties:

  • 872 to 933 Brookmere Station Rd.
  • 905 to 920 Caboose Lane
  • 5541 to 5633 Coldwater Rd.
  • 5135 to 5147 Conductor Way
  • 5120 to 5132 Engineer Ave.
  • 5105 to 5132 Railway Dr.
  • 5152 Railway Dr.
  • 852 to 1016 Roundhouse Dr.
    (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

Elsewhere, 5144 Railway Dr. remains on evacuation order dating back to Nov. 15.

Any Brookmere resident who cannot stay with friends or family are asked to report to the Kelowna Emergency Support Services Reception Centre at Willow Park Church at 438 Highway 33. The reception centre is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and can be contacted at 250-469-8512.

Emergency Support Services will only be provided if your primary residence is one of the properties under evacuation order.
