Active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations decrease in B.C., 322 new cases

KAMLOOPS — B.C. reported 322 new COVID-19 cases for Wednesday (Nov. 24), with 86 of them in Interior Health.

Active cases decreased again in the province to 3,015 (down by 32 since Tuesday), although the active count in Interior Health slightly increased to 606 (up by 11).

Hospitalizations in B.C. decreased to 318 (down by 27), with 109 of those patients in intensive care (down by six).

Nine new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours for a provincial total of 2,313. One of the deaths took place in Interior Health.

Elsewhere, 100 new cases were reported in Fraser Health (1,095 active), 50 in Vancouver Coastal health (472), 44 in Northern Health (415) and 42 in Island Health (421).

The COVID-19 outbreaks at Village by the Station in Penticton and Sun Pointe Village in Kelowna have been declared over, and no new healthcare facility outbreaks were declared. There are 10 active outbreaks in B.C., including Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops.

Interior Health states that RIH Unit 5-South has 21 patients and eight staff connected with its outbreak, along with two deaths. Meanwhile, Unit 6-South has 10 patient cases and Unit 5-North has six patients and six staff.

As of Wednesday, 91 per cent (4,216,384) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 87.4 per cent (4,053,088) have received their second.
