Casimir re-elected as Tk’emlups te Secwepemc chief

TK’EMLUPS — The chief of Tk’emlups te Secwepemc (TteS) will serve another term.

Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir was successful in her re-election bid Saturday (Nov. 13) with 245 votes. Longtime councillor Jeanette Jules was second with 149 votes, and former councillor Chad Gottfriedson was third with 81.

Casimir was first elected as Kukpi7 in 2018 after serving three terms as a TteS councillor.

TteS band members also elected seven councillors. Justin Gottfriedson received the most votes with 305, followed by Nickole (Nikki) Fraser (293), David (Dave) Manuel (290), Thomas Blank (289), Joshua Gottfriedson (274), Nicole (Morning-Star) Peters (257), and Marie Baptiste (219).

The swearing in ceremony will be live streamed on Ttes’ Facebook page and Vimeo channel on Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m.
