Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation’s online auction fundraising for Deni House

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — For the second year in a row, the annual Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation (CMHF) Gala will not take place.

However, there’s another way for residents to assist in fundraising.

The CMHF fundraising auction will be virtual for the second year in a row. Each year, CMHF hosts fundraisers, and manages cash and legacy donations in pursuit of acquiring vital, modern, and beneficial medical equipment for Williams Lake’s only hospital, Cariboo Memorial.

The auction will be hosted on CMHF’s Facebook page beginning on Sunday, Nov. 21, and running through to Sunday, Dec. 5.

“The individuals and businesses in this community open their hearts for this event, and we couldn’t possibly appreciate them more,” CMHF Board Treasurer Tammy Tugnum says. “It takes our whole team to follow up on, collect and catalog all of the amazing items being donated. People act from the heart, and this community is all heart.”

CMHF says proceeds from this year’s online auction are earmarked to replace the entire cover of the outdoor patio located on the west side of Deni House, which had been condemned earlier this year. The design put forth by Durfeld Log Homes is projected to cost more than $70,000 and will allow residents and visitors to enjoy the space in all seasons.

The Deni House patio is in final stages of approval by the Cariboo Memorial Hospital’s Engineer but is slated to complete in the spring of 2022.
