B.C. reports 555 new COVID-19 cases, active count increases in Interior Health

KAMLOOPS — B.C. reported 555 new COVID-19 cases for Wednesday (Nov. 10), with 114 of them in Interior Health.

Active cases slightly increased to 4,321 in the province (up by 20 since Tuesday), and 766 in Interior Health (up by 21).

Hospitalizations went down across the province. Of the active cases, 404 patients are in hospital (down by 22) and 117 are in intensive care (down by seven). The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Elsewhere, there were 197 new cases in Fraser Health (1,820 active), 106 in Northern Health (573), 88 in Island Health (598), and 50 in Vancouver Coastal Health (505). There were no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada, although that active count sits at 59.

Eleven new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, one of them in Interior Health, for a provincial total of 2,234.

There are 29 active COVID-19 outbreaks at B.C. healthcare facilities, with five of them in Interior Health, including Royal Inland Hospital and Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre in Kamloops.

As of Wednesday, 90.5 per cent (4,195,116) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 86.4 per cent (4,003,628) have received their second.
