Two years later, Kamloops man charged in downtown crash that killed three awaits trial

KAMLOOPS — Wednesday (Nov. 3) marks the second anniversary of a horrific crash that took the lives of three young Kamloops men. The man charged in the crash is due back in court later this month.

Early on November 3, 2019, four students were in a car travelling near the intersection of First Avenue and Battle Street when it was hit by a pickup truck.

Two of the four occupants, Feyisola Adebowale and Daniel Okocha, were killed instantly. A third, Oluwatosin Adeojo, died ten days later.

The occupants of the car were all alumni of Thompson Rivers University who had come to Canada from Nigeria to study. All three worked at the Coast Sundance Lodge in Sun Peaks.

RCMP found the truck was speeding and ran a stop sign when it hit the car, which had the right of way.

Nearly eleven months after the crash, prosecutors laid a series of charges against Reid McKnight, including three counts of dangerous driving causing death.

McKnight is due back in court November 29 to set a date for future proceedings.
