B.C. reports 406 new COVID-19 cases, 95 of them in Interior Health

KAMLOOPS — There were 406 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C. for Tuesday (Nov. 2), with 95 of them in Interior Health.

Provincially, there are 4,694 active cases (up by 26 since Monday), with 613 of them in Interior Health (up by 25).

Of the provincial active cases, 445 individuals are in hospital (up by nine) and 137 are in intensive care (down by three). The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

In the past 24 hours, five new deaths were reported, one of them in Interior Health, for a provincial total of 2,181.

Elsewhere, 133 new cases were reported in Fraser Health (2,157 active), 86 in Northern Health (606), 51 in Island Health (652) and 41 in Vancouver Coastal Health (607). No new cases were reported from people who reside outside of Canada, but that active count sits at 59.

Two new COVID-19 outbreaks were declared at healthcare facilities, including Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. There are 41 active outbreaks, with seven of them in Interior Health, including Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre in Kamloops.

As of Tuesday, 90.0 per cent (4,171,944) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 85.4 per cent (3,958,398) have received their second dose.
