Remains found in the South Thompson River identified as Kamloops man missing for year

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man who was reported missing last October has been confirmed deceased.
On Oct. 19, 2020, Ryan Friesen was reported missing from his residence on Royal Avenue.
On Oct. 12, 2021, through DNA analysis and comparison, his remains were confirmed to be those located in the Thompson River on Aug. 23, 2021. Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the remains were found near the 3000-block of Mission Flats Road, which is between the Mission Flats landfill and the City of Kamloops Sewage Treatment Centre.
“Police have been in contact with Mr. Friesen’s family, who supported releasing his name publicly to update those who have been actively looking for him since his disappearance,” Evelyn says.
