Prime Minister Trudeau joins Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir, Tk’emlups community to discuss truth and reconciliation

TK’EMLUPS — A ceremony has begun at the Tk’emlups PowWow Arbour to mark the visit of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

It comes 18 days after the first ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The Tk’emlups te Secwepemc had invited Trudeau to attend local ceremonies taking place on that day. Instead, Trudeau was found to be in Tofino for a family holiday.

He was roundly criticized for ignoring invitations from Tk’emlups Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir, and apologized a few days later, pledging to visit Tk’emlups soon.
