Blazers drop first game of the season in Kelowna 4-2
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers dropped their first game of the 2021-22 Western Hockey League (WHL) season in Kelowna 4-2 Friday (Oct. 15) evening.
After trailing 2-0 to the Rockets after two periods, the Blazers rallied early in the third to tie it up. Josh Pillar banked the puck off Rockets defenceman Noah Dorey’s skate and in and Import Draft pick and Vancouver Canucks prospect Viktor Persson scored his first career WHL goal on a shorthanded rush.
However, new Rocket forward and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Colton Dach wristed his second goal of the game on the power play to put Kelowna up for good.
The Blazers exit Kelowna with a 4-1-0 record, good for eight points in five games and first in the B.C. Division early. They remain on the road to play the Vancouver Giants Saturday (Oct. 16) night.
