Fatal crash west of Salmon Arm closes Highway 1 in both directions

UPDATE (12:45 p.m.): DriveBC says Highway 1 at Ford Road in Tappen is clear, but drivers should expect delays in the area due to congestion.

EARLIER: SALMON ARM, B.C. — Highway 1 west of Salmon Arm is expected to remain closed in both directions for several hours after a fatal collision took place Monday (Oct. 4) morning.

BC Highway Patrol says Salmon Arm RCMP and Emergency Health Services responded to the two-vehicle crash at around 7:00 a.m. A driver of one vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Investigators are working to determine the cause of this collision.

Traffic control personnel are on scene and re-routing traffic where possible as police gather evidence.
